When it comes to backcountry horsemanship, Don is the man to talk to. For the past 25 years, he has been running his own consulting company but he’s spent an entire lifetime with horses in the backcountry, operating on the unceded territory of the Lil’wat. His mentorship with the ACE Program was with NW-ACE where he passed on his knowledge to students to keep the tradition of backcountry horsemanship alive. He would also help students avoid making the same mistakes he made in the past and guide them towards success with their vision. Don admits that he didn’t learn anything new from his role as a mentor but he did realize that sometimes you have to change your way of thinking to aid people in accomplishing their goals.
