Erica Ryan Gidin Jaad
NW-ACE Mentor

As a mentor for the fourth Northwest ACE Program, Erica Ryan Gidin Jaad learned from her experiences that people are waking up to the small business opportunities present in their communities, creating sustainable economic development in a self-sufficient manner. She became a mentor after attending an ACE graduation ceremony in Prince Rupert as a guest speaker; the participants she met inspired her to pass on the torch of knowledge like a mentor had once done for her when launching her own business. Erica’s support to students didn’t just involve feedback, but also sharing tips and tricks to avoid burnout during the first few years owning a business. Her expertise has been mentoring aspiring nail technicians and hairdressers like the ones who are currently operating Eri-Cut & Nailed, which she opened in 2010, while she finishes her teaching degree in Terrace.
