Suzanne Methot
NW-ACE Mentor
Upon consultation from an ACE student, Suzanne Methot agreed that she would be a great fit as a mentor for the tenth NW-ACE Program. With 30 years of experience in her field, Suzanne has a wealth of knowledge and experiences from her last 8 years of self-employment, which she was able to share. When considering how to help, Suzanne thought of both the good and bad stories that could guide students in avoiding the mistakes she found herself making in her first few years. She also notes that Indigenous youth have an incredible drive, as is evident by the rising number of self-employed Indigenous people even though the Canadian self-employment rates are decreasing.
